About The Photography

The George Gund Foundation each year commissions a photographer to illustrate one of the Foundation’s priorities or areas of interest.  These essays have focused on everything from the revitalization of Cleveland’s neighborhoods to the importance of early childhood education.  The photo essays, included in our annual reports for almost two decades, serve to highlight the Foundation’s areas of engagement as well as our commitment to supporting the arts.  Although the Foundation has published an annual report for many years, only the reports beginning in 1990 are available on this site.

The first 12 years of photographs were compiled in a book, "A City Seen," for the Foundation's celebration of its 50th anniversary in 2002.
